On this page I'll discuss the history of my collectibles and how I got involved in collecting.
History
Hello fellow tauchretter collectors!
I am building this site for several reasons:
First, I would like to show those interested in the Dräger tauchretter
my collection which now stands at 9 pre 1945 Kriegsmarine and 3 post war Bundesmarine versions .
Second, I invite other collectors of tauchretters or parts of
to display them here on my website for others to see.
And last, I have created this site to show collectors and potential
collectors original World War II Kriegsmarine issue Dräger Tauchretter parts from their post-war counter parts that are passed
off as original WWII items. Over the years everything connected to the third Reich has been reproduced . At first many reproductions
were very poor and crude and could be detected at once. Unfortunately, this is no longer the case. Today many reproductions
are equal to, if not better than their WWII counterparts. After 60 years since the end of WWII the demand for third reich
items has increased as the supply decreased, giving way to a huge market for fakes. No longer is the market for fakes
limited to the iron cross and infantry assault badges. Everything down to u-boat shoes have been reproduced. I have seen
and own post-war dräger made CO2 scrubber cans with fake pre-1945 date codes and the area with the real dates was torn off. I
have also seen oxygen bottles with ground off dates and other product codes and information in order to pass off as a WWII
KM issue tauchretter parts. There is an old saying " let the buyer beware". It is my goal to show and inform you
how to identify the fakes from the real items so you will not be taken by some dealer out to make a fast buck.
So with that said, I hope you enjoy this site and it provides
you with some information that you can utilize in your quest for tauchretter parts.
My first tauchretter !
I have been collecting German military militaria for over 35 years and U-boat related items for the last 32 years
. Once I collected my first Dräger Tauchretter that was it ! I sold my entire collection except for my tauchretters , which
now totals 9 . I even sold all my U-Boat related items just to focus all of my attention on my new hobby .
Here I'll talk about when I first began collecting, and a few of the highlights of my career as a collector. (Everyone
likes to hear about those flea market finds!) under construction .
Send an e-mail and tell me how you first became a collector or the story of your best find.
