A Detailed view of the tauchretter goggles
|
|
The Tauchretter goggles , known in German as taucherbrille and was made from a synthetic black rubber material . The
2 round eye pieces were made from glass and held water tight in the goggles by a stamped metal ring crimped along it's rear
outer edge . The metal retaining rings could be made from an un painted non magnetic stainless steel or from a green painted
magnetic steel material . Without these 2 metal rings around the eye pieces the goggles would not be water tight or pressure
proof . Moulded into the front of the goggles , between the 2 eye pieces is the company log and the date of manufacture .
The goggles is retained on the head with a thin black rubber head strap with a leathe tab on each end with 2 or 4 steel rivets
holding the strap to the goggle body .
These goggles are the same goggles that are called gasschutzbrille used by land based rebreather
units .
